Whisper (2019) Original Oil Painting by Alexander Levich

In Whisper, Alexander Levich explores how much a person can communicate through a small gesture. Twelve paintings depict the same woman from different viewpoints, focusing on her neck, shoulders, lips and turns of the head. The close cropping often leaves the eyes beyond the edge, encouraging attention to other aspects of expression.

The individual views suggest moments of movement and stillness. A hand rises towards the hair, a face turns away, and a slight smile appears. Together, they create a sense of familiarity without revealing a particular story.

Peach, rose and ochre brushstrokes bring warmth to the figure, set against pale backgrounds and black framing. The title evokes a quiet exchange between people close enough to hear one another.

Created in 2019, this is one work comprising twelve oil paintings on canvas, each 50 × 50 cm. Shown in three rows of four, the complete composition measures 160 × 212 × 5.5 cm.
