The painting explores the shifting boundary between reflection and surface. Across a square field of deep cobalt, turquoise and muted gold, water lilies emerge as luminous accents, their delicate forms held against a richly layered network of floating leaves and broken reflections.

The composition gradually opens toward a pale, atmospheric passage of light, drawing the eye from the tactile density of the foreground into a quieter, almost weightless distance. Painted in oil on canvas, the work combines impressionistic observation with an expressive, contemporary handling of colour and brushwork, transforming the familiar motif of the lily pond into a meditation on light, rhythm and stillness.
