Original artwork description:

Two musicians on a warm day in San Polo, Venice, backed by weathered paintwork on the buildings.

I was interested in the contrast between the learned precision of the musicians, achieved after much practice, and the spontaneous feelings their music evoked at that particular time and place. I wanted to show this contrast in the way I painted the canvas, using both careful precise marks on the figures and looser paint marks on the background.

Painted on stretched canvas with wooden stretcher. The sides are white canvas with some overspill from the paint.
D-ring fixings provided so it can hang unframed.
