Grand Canal, Venice is a large-scale contemporary interpretation of one of the most iconic views of Venice, transformed through movement, texture, and expressive color.
Painted with a palette knife and rich oil impasto, the work captures the Grand Canal as a living surface of light and reflection. Gondolas cross the foreground while historic Venetian façades rise along the water, their architectural forms dissolving into energetic strokes of white, blue, ochre, red, and green.
The dramatic sky and restless water give the composition a powerful sense of movement. Rather than reproducing Venice photographically, the painting translates the city into rhythm, atmosphere, and material presence.
