I wanted to capture the most dramatic moment of sunset over Venice. The glowing orange sun illuminates the skyline behind the domes, while the dark silhouette of a gondola rests prominently across the foreground. Rather than recording architectural details, I focused on the emotional relationship between light, water, and the city.

I used strong contrasts of orange, gold, and blue-gray, applying bold and direct brushstrokes to shape the sky and silhouetted architecture. Broken strokes across the water suggest the shimmering path of sunlight. The dark gondola anchors the composition and intensifies the brilliance of the sunset and its reflection.
