Part of the Urban Photographs series, Unexpected Beauty offers a fresh perspective on the overlooked corners of daily life. Captured inside an old residential building in downtown Shanghai, this work is born from a quiet fascination with spaces where daily life carries on unhurried, even as time leaves its unmistakable patina.
Standing at the base of a worn staircase and looking upward, I discovered an unexpected elegance: soft, fluid white curves spiraling between the floors, unfolding like a secret architectural passage. Through my lens, the intention extends beyond mere documentation—it is an invitation to see the world through a renewed gaze, revealing that even in the most ordinary and easily ignored spaces lies a breathtaking beauty waiting to be noticed.
