Tuscan Summer no. 03 (2014) Photograph by Jan Walczewski

60 x 40 x 0.2cm (unframed) / 62 x 42cm (actual image size)

£568.87

I took this photograph in Tuscany, Italy; it is part of the Tuscan Summer series.

This landscape is less a record of a specific location than an atmospheric impression of it. Muted earth tones and distant shapes create an almost painterly space, evoking the Renaissance technique known as sfumato—a method characterized by the gentle blurring of outlines and the creation of fluid, soft transitions between light and shadow.
Here, I have consciously distilled the Tuscan landscape into layers of light, earth, and silence—resulting in a scene suspended somewhere between photography and painting.

Numbered and signed.
Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper.
Paper format: 42x 62 cm; image dimensions: 40x 60cm. The image is printed with a 1 cm white border on each side, making it easy to frame.
