Portrait of Giuseppe Ungaretti inspired by my admiration for the well-known Italian poet, writer, translator and academic. I captured the essence of wisdom and the beauty of age, using only pencil on cardboard, highlighting every wrinkle and smile, expressing a deep sense of restlessness and serenity that only life lived can give. This work is not only a tribute to the figure depicted, but a celebration of humanity and its resilience through time, sparked by the facial expression in which the strong personality, turmoil of the soul and inner struggle that he also quoted in his poems, “I have nothing but haughtiness and goodness,” we read in “PIETY.” Bringing this piece home introduces a symbol of hope and love for life at every stage.
