Tree, Woman, Moon and Venus (2020) Original Watercolour by Phyllis Mahon

A twilight landscape where a woman sits beneath a tree, gazing at the rising full moon. Venus the Evening Star is just a little above to the left.

Droplets are cascading from the full moon, pouring over her breast, her lap and binding her bare feet.
Her long hair is subtly on fire where she leans against the tree trunk, full of orange and red highlights.

Finely painted in Winsor & Newton watercolour and permanent Derwent Inktense pencil on heavy 320 gsm Indian handmade cotton paper which is acid free, with deckle edge.

My artworks are very much affected by my surroundings and in late December and through January 2020, I found myself painting a series of tree images on this lovely paper.
