Tread Gently (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Adam Bogusz

There is a quiet responsibility in showing someone else how to move through the world. How we walk matters as much as where we go.
Tread Gently is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a soft blue and violet landscape, cockatoos gathered in a golden tree, and two figures walking together, one just a few steps ahead.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the weight of being watched and followed, and the care it takes to walk in a way worth following.
