Acrylic & masonsry paint on Ordovician Slate.

The natural slate is sourced from Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria, UK. It is estimated at 450 million years old.

Weighs approximately 22.7kg

Stands freely and securely on its own.

Varnished with UV resistant, water-resistant varnish.

Many of my clients use their painted slate as garden ornaments and report no fading or colour of artwork in spite being outside for a number of years.

I personally recommend that this item is used as an interior ornament only to ensure maximum preservation of artwork. This is because manufacturers of paint and varnish cannot guarantee permanence of artwork which is always exposed to the weather

Materials used:

Cumbrian Slate, acrylic paint, masonry paint, weatherproof masonry sealant
