**After a temporary absence of 8 months from Artfinder my shop here is going through a review to select the Qty 30 original artworks I will be re-listing in the next week or so.**
About me
I am a portraiture and fine art artist, full-time since 2013 and specialising in painting on leather although I can and do occasionally use traditional media.
Leather art: My artworks here are painted on the medium of leather, this art is challenging to work with but the properties of each hide gives an aesthetic that will never, in my experience, be matched by paper or canvas. I have developed a technique that starts with digital technology in the preparation of each composition to the technical aspect of selecting, treating and preparing the stock upholstery-quality hides I use and then final presentation and framing/mounting. The specialised leather painting process does provide a vibrant and robust paint finish that complements the original colour and texture of the leather. Glass is not used to protect my leather artwork so there is none of the reflections from glazing.
My leather art can be touched, caressed and even worn as art clothing.
I am a professional Engineer and have developed a style and technique that ensures my leather art is robust and is resistant to agents such as petrol, oil and strong detergents.
Other traditional media
I also create artwork on canvas and panel - it very much depends on the subject using such media as oil, acrylics and graphite pencil. I do take commissions in these media if you prefer.
My work has a realistic style and usually adapted with some artistic license from one or a series of photograph references.
Commissions
I do take on art commissions covering all of the subjects, styles and media that you can see here on my gallery on Artfinder. The most popular are pets, portraits and cars.
In 2026 I took the decision to limit participation in public art exhibitions and art fairs as the returns on the investment and effort were no longer sustainable. It is a shame as we enjoyed getting out and about. About 95% of my current work is on commission for private individuals or commercial projects for fashion designers.
