One of a small series of paintings that I completed early in the winter. I really enjoy painting Scot's Pine trees which are so abundant in the Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, close to where I live. I have used a soft lilac colour to describe the cool, wintry atmosphere of the painting, which at the same time compliments the green palette. I use large brushes and cloths to move the paint around and keep the marks loose. I have framed the painting in a good quality, white painted wood frame with a shadow gap between the canvas and frame to enhance the painting.
