Thermal Bloom captures the instant when heat becomes creation. From the combustion of shellac and wax emerges a living structure — part eruption, part metamorphosis. The painting translates thermal energy into organic form, evoking the birth of matter in motion. Its petals of crimson, gold and green radiate like a pulse of life caught in wax, frozen yet still expanding.

Thermal Bloom is an encaustic shellac burn painting on HDF panel, 50×50 cm, completed in 2025. Dora Stork combines molten wax and controlled flame to create textured surfaces that echo natural growth and energy release. The vivid palette of magenta, copper and leaf-green embodies her focus on the transformative power of heat and light in encaustic art. A key work within her current series exploring the dialogue between organic forces and material structure.

Some of my recent encaustic works are painted on HDF panels, which provide a smooth, heat-resistant surface ideal for fine layering.
