This painting is the "Gold Star" winner in the 2016 international art competition sponsored by ArtFinder and Liquitex where artists were invited to enter paintings that showed what "muted" means to them.
It's rare that my painting palette is muted. I tend to gravitate to rich, saturated color and like to juxtapose opposites to make colors pop. Life is beautiful, and many times I choose the chorus singing full throated like in Beethoven's 9th. In this piece however, I went with a softer palette. There is the lingering sense of soft notes that were played over piano keys and left their vibrations behind. It feels like soft skies and clouds and wings in pristine air.
This is an original large triptych directly from the easel, painted on gallery-wrapped canvases. The sides show the visible traces of the painting process. It is comprised of three canvases each 30" x 40"/76 x 102cm.
A signature will be required at delivery so this large painting can be fully insured, and to assure delivery.
