The Way Back to Light explores the quiet moment when hope first appears. Inspired by the experience of looking upwards through deep water, shafts of luminous light break through the darkness, creating a powerful sense of movement, possibility and renewal. It is not simply about water, but about recognising that even in our deepest moments there is always a path towards warmth, breath and possibility. Built through countless translucent layers of acrylic, expressive mark making and fluid poured colour, the painting captures the shifting relationship between light and water, where the familiar dissolves into atmosphere. Rather than depicting a place, it invites the viewer into an experience, a journey towards clarity, peace and renewal. Monumental in scale yet deeply contemplative, this work celebrates the enduring pull of light and our instinct to keep moving towards it.
Due to its size, this artwork ships rolled in a tube. This is the safest way to transport large original artworks and allows me to offer it at a more competitive price. Any professional picture framer can stretch the canvas onto wooden stretcher bars, ready to hang, at a very reasonable cost.
