The Sparrow (2025) Original Oil Painting by Anastasia Woron

The Sparrow is a small oil painting created alla prima, with direct, spontaneous brushwork that preserves the freshness and immediacy of the moment.
I wanted the bird to remain the clear presence of the painting, surrounded by loose suggestions of grass and small wildflowers. The visible brushstrokes and textured paint give the little sparrow a lively, almost tactile character, while the surrounding greens keep the scene intimate and natural.
Its modest scale makes the work feel especially personal — a small encounter with an ordinary bird, observed closely and given its own space.
The original Spanish title, “El gorrión”, is handwritten on the reverse of the painting. For its international presentation on Artfinder, the work is listed under its English translation, The Sparrow.
