Original artwork description:

Continuing my ' powerful places ' series of paintings. This painting draws on my memories of Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe. The Kalolo-Lozi people had their own name before Livingstone arrived, Mosi-oa-Tunya which translates as 'The smoke that thunders'. The noise of the Zambezi river tumbling with full force over the 350ft drop is the memory that really sticks. These are the largest waterfalls in the world.

This was the last stop on our month long trip through southern Africa taking in four countries and where the gearbox on the 4x4 Bedford finally gave up. I remember helping to rebuild it for the limp back to Harare airport using bearings that we made out of cutting up steel tent pegs. Honestly!

As a final treat we went to the casino at the Iconic Victoria falls hotel and I won 32,000 dollars on roulette. ...sadly they were Zimbabwe dollars worth about £30 at the time ! Still it was a reasonable amount of money when a bottle of beer cost 15 pence.

This painting incorporates my characteristic use of reflective paints to capture the light. I have incorporated the sumptuous 'Golden' paints, iridescent pearl, phthalo blue and ultramarine blue. Artificial light accentuates the reflective quality of the painting.

Created on a Loxley 'Ashgate' cross braced deep box canvas, painted white on the sides, so you may choose not to frame. However I believe that a plain white frame would be beneficial. Initialled on the front and signed on the back and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Corded and ready to hang.

I will only charge what the maximum of what the shipping costs state and if it is less then I will always refund the difference.
