Original artwork description:

The Secret is a large 40x40x1.5 inches original oil painting on canvas of an abstract forest glade in spring. The painting offers a glimpse of a woodland clearing in springtime which is painted in expressionist semi abstract style. Wildflowers of all colours can be seen and above them are two blue tits who are emerging out of the background not quite formed yet. This is because I often spot these little birds but they are so small and move so fast that is difficult to focus on them - I tried to show this transient feeling. It was inspired by the sense of ancientness and mystery I sometimes feel when exploring woods and forests around Sussex. They all have a unique character and spring time is the best time to explore as bluebells, fox gloves, wild garlic and other wild flowers abound. I often feel I may uncover a secret in them and I often do find little clearings or glades such as this which seem quite magical. This is what I was trying to portray and I am pleased with the result. The painting has white edges and is on deep edge canvas, ready to hang and does not need a frame.
