Original artwork description
This is an original oil painting very much in the impressionist tradition, depicting an abandoned stone house at Puy-de-Gaudy (a place I've visited on several occasions), in the commune of Saint-Feyre, Creuse, France. I was particularly drawn to the old stone staircase which had gradually been reclaimed by nature, and didn't appear to go anywhere in particular.
Beyond the house, the landscape opens into distant rolling hills (indicative of this part of France), with the autumn colours creeping in .
It is painted in an expressive impressionist style, with broken colour and visible brushwork.
