A view from the interior of a Victorian-era palm house in our local arboretum looking up past and through the vibrant greens of the interior to a blue sky sprinkled with clouds. I am drawn to the juxtaposition of the formality of the geometric structure and the verdant, exuberant informality of the plants below. If you have visited such green/glass houses, you know they have a particular moist warmth and an exotic earthy smell. And especially in the winter, when the snow lies on the ground outside, they can transport one thousands of miles to tropical islands and forests and lift one's spirits. I have tried to capture this essence of wonder in my reduction linocut print.
