In the 19th century in Italy's Dolomites mountains, bears were once hunted to extinction. Over the past 30 years however, conservation efforts have finally brought back a thriving population of brown bears to their original habitat.
"In the work I tell the story of the last female bear in my valley, hunted by a hunter and who died falling from the mountain with the hunter".

The immediacy of art fills the distances, makes the untranslatable clear. My portraits are silent. It is the silence of the body that makes us listen because even silence has its noise. Painting portraits is for me a tribute to life, preserving the still image of a state of mind, creating an emotional memory ...
