There are days when the land itself seems to breathe, when the air hums with the quiet business of being alive. Stop, and you find it everywhere.
The Hill Is Alive is an original acrylic painting on board, 50 x 45cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a hillside ablaze with gold, cockatoos and small birds scattered through every corner of it, a house on the ridge, and figures going about their own quiet business across the land.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the many figures and birds who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the aliveness that hums beneath an ordinary day, once you stop moving long enough to notice it.
Painted with artist quality acrylics on MDF board. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
