Original artwork description
This painting is one of the rare works that has been inspired from a cemetery outside of France. This is a hand from the memorial to Scottish-American soldiers during the American civil war, which can be found in the Old Carlton burial ground.
The hand comes from a statue of a slave, whom half of the country at the time were trying to continue to subjugate. The USA is a country built on stolen labour and cruelty , hopefully a try acknowledgement of the past will allow real progress, but I'll believe that when I see it.
