- The Garden Looks Back
Original artwork description
At first glance, this watercolour may look like a strange creature or a fragment of unknown anatomy. It began with a tomato cut open after being picked from the garden. I was fascinated by the way its seeds, pulp and chambers transformed an ordinary fruit into an almost cosmic, slightly unsettling form. Painted in translucent reds, pinks and warm yellows, the work sits between botanical observation and organic abstraction. The familiar becomes mysterious when we look long enough.
