Original artwork description
In The Caress, I explore desire, power, seduction and mortality through a symbolic figurative composition.
A solitary figure dressed in a deep red garment is seen from behind, creating a sense of mystery and psychological distance. Two hands enter the scene from opposite sides: a skeletal hand rests gently on the shoulder, suggesting mortality and the passage of time, while an elegant hand adorned with gold rings and precious stones evokes attraction, beauty, wealth and material desire.
The figure stands between these opposing forces in a suspended moment, caught between restraint and temptation, contemplation and desire. The title The Caress adds another layer of ambiguity, transforming a gesture of tenderness into something more complex and symbolic.
The deep red garment evokes passion, power, sacrifice and authority, while the dark background intensifies the quiet drama of the scene.
Through this contemporary symbolic painting, I wanted to create an image that feels intimate, theatrical and contemplative, reflecting on beauty, desire, mortality and the forces that shape human experience.
