Tess is a painting inspired by the detective magazine covers of the 1930s - it shows a women from the 1800s being pursued by bloodhounds and a police officer. It reminded me of Tess of the D'Urbervilles from the Thomas Hardy novel - and her fate as a symbolic pagan sacrifice at Stonehenge. I added the words "Beautiful and Doomed" to convey the sense of fate and tragedy.
