Temporary Accommodation (2026) Original Oil Painting by Joshua Daniels

This ongoing series of small oil paintings pairs blackbirds with oversized seashells, bringing together symbols of sky and sea. Inspired by my move from a houseboat to living on land, the works reflect on ideas of home, transition, and place. The exaggerated scale of the shells transforms them into imagined shelters or nests for the birds. Through these unexpected combinations, the paintings invite a reconsideration of familiar natural forms and the relationships between different environments.
