In Tamed Silence, a wild animal inhabits a space that seemingly does not belong to it, yet the tiger appears completely at home. Resting quietly in an armchair among textiles, furniture, and familiar domestic objects, its presence does not disturb the room but becomes the still center of it.
The contrast between the animal’s inherent power and the intimacy of the interior transforms the scene into a reflection on safety and inner calm. The wild is neither diminished nor erased; it has simply ceased to be on guard.
Vivid reds, turquoise, pinks, and ochre tones are constructed through broad, expressive brushwork. The interior deliberately moves between recognizable space and decorative abstraction, while the tiger’s direct gaze anchors the composition and creates a quiet sense of presence.
For the artist, the work reflects that rare state in which one no longer needs to defend oneself against the outside world and can simply exist.
