The modern metropolis lives in a familiar rhythm: an endless stream of cars, the lights of the evening streets, the noise of the city dissolving in the vibrant colors of the sunset. Everything around seems familiar and real, until a strange rupture appears at the very center of the composition—as if the fabric of the familiar world has opened, revealing a passage into another reality.
Behind this portal lies a completely different world. Here, there is no hustle and bustle. A landscape inspired by the paintings of Vincent van Gogh unfolds before the viewer: a swirling sky filled with movement, a tranquil village, endless hills, and a sense of timeless silence. This is not just a quote from the great artist, but a symbol of a space where art becomes a refuge from the fast pace of modern life.
This work is a reflection on the power of art. It explores how, even amid the hustle and bustle of the city, there is always the opportunity to discover a space where time flows differently, but beauty remains unchanging. Perhaps the most important portals are not in fantasy worlds, but within ourselves—where memories, inspiration, and the ability to see familiar reality in a new way live.

The "Art Nearby" series
What if one day you walk down a familiar street and see a painting you've known all your life?
The "Art Nearby" series explores this surreal situation. Artistic worlds emerge from their confines and unexpectedly find themselves within contemporary reality. The past meets the present, the museum meets the street, and classical painting meets everyday life.
The series' central idea is that art never remains in the past. It lives on, changing our perception of the world and unexpectedly returning to our everyday lives.
Each work becomes a portal between two worlds. Through it, familiar images, landscapes, and characters penetrate everyday reality, transforming an ordinary space into a meeting place for different eras. The boundary between a painting and our lives turns out to be arbitrary. Art can appear anywhere; it doesn't simply depict the world, it becomes part of it.
At the same time, the works are not copied literally. The artist reinterprets them and places them in a new context, creating a third reality—a meeting place for the past and the present.

About artist:
BAST creates artworks in a decorative style, likes to experiment with materials: mosaics, precious stones, glass, paints, texture, etc.
Irina became a laureate of the Recycling Art competition and presented her project at the large citywide festival ARTification.
The artist participated in 23 exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Russia, China and Europe.
In addition, Irina was awarded the diplomas "Best Works of 2016", "Best Works of 2019", a special diploma for creativity (International Association VATIKAM, France, Paris) and has a letter of thanks from the Luxembourg Art Prize.
The artist has publications in the following magazines: Bonart cultural (Spain), BONART Cultural, Girona (Spain), CONTEMPORAIN (France), Woman (Russia), Objectsmag (Rivista online indipendente, Italy), Poramoralarte (Spain), The News God (USA), GlamourBuff (USA).
Irina's artworks are kept in the collections of ArtMuse Contemporary Art Museum (Russia, St. Petersburg) and Art Recycling Museum (Russia, Kaluga), Ecological Museum MUMUKA (Russia, Kaliningrad).
