As I hiked through the remote valley the sky became incredibly heavy with dark purple rain clouds swirling overhead. The atmosphere completely changed as I looked around for shelter from the oncoming storm. The small croft across the stream appeared in the distance both remote but at the same time welcoming. Sketchbook in hand I made colour notes and photographed the moment. I wanted to capture the oppressive nature of the storm as it gathered pace which is so fleeting in an oil painting.

On returning to the studio I worked on the composition and started to produce the final artwork. It certainly lifts one's mood to see the beauty of light in nature.

Spring Storm is a framed original oil painting created and painted by myself. The back of the artwork is signed and you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity.
