Original artwork description
This mixed media canvas was inspired by a lovely speckled (black and white) hen. I love the fancy feathers and enjoyed building up the layers of the feathers and the yellow flowers in the background.
I start the canvas with a rough pencil sketch and then I add the coloured paper before building up the layers with acrylic paint. The last thing I add are the embellishments of thread, beads, buttons and glitter to pick out or highlight certain areas.
