South of Silence I & II (Diptych) 12" x 24" each, sold as a pair | Original oil and pencil on deep-edge canvas

To stand in front of these is to breathe with them. Cobalt and white, the held and the released, both painted from the same quiet.

I found that quiet standing in front of a glacier in Patagonia. The cobalt of the ice. A silence so vast and ancient I'm still finding words for it. First the stillness of being so small in front of something so much bigger than me, then the slow exhale of letting myself be there.

Built in slow oil layers, brush and palette knife, pencil drifting softly through. Deep cobalt rising into white, small flecks of ochre catching the light like earth beneath the ice.

A feeling more than a place, though it began with one. They live in that quiet liberation that comes when you stop holding it all in and let yourself be exactly as you are. There is something sacred in the sensual, and something powerful in being fully yourself, and this pair holds you there.

Hung side by side, they whisper to one another. The breath in and the breath out.
