When I painted Sotto il Sole, I wanted to capture the exact feeling of an unhurried Italian summer - the kind where time slows down under a warm, glowing sky.
My main inspiration came from the rich colors of the Mediterranean coast: the sharp, vivid contrast of golden citrus against crisp blue and white stripes, reminiscent of shade umbrellas along the Amalfi shore. I used thick, textured brushstrokes so you can almost feel the heat of the afternoon sun, the cooling coastal breeze, and the bright, fresh scent of ripe lemons. For me, this piece is a personal tribute to la dolce vita and the art of savoring simple, beautiful moments.
