Artwork description:

Title: Song of the Isles

The light and colours of the northern islands of Scotland are often muted by mist or rain. They soften and melt into the horizon leaving only outlines and impressions of the rolling hills. Rona and Raasay as seen from the north end of Skye.

A passion for printing....
I am passionate about printing my own work. I have spent many years perfecting this skill and selecting the most beautiful paper and canvas to work with. People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use.

This print is prepared using exquisite Canson Infinity Arches Aquarelle Fine Art Paper. This heavy textured paper is extremely age resistant and has the look and feel of traditional watercolour paper.

Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for artists for over 450 years. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon. The Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the beautifully decorated first hot air balloon and worked with designers who supplied the wallpaper for Marie Antoinette. In more recent times, Canson paper has been used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. Since the beginning of the era of Photography 150 years ago, Canson have adapted their most beautiful papers for printing. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.

Other Options
I also work with other art papers and canvases so if you have a special request please just let me know.
