Original artwork description:
On reaching the top of the fell I was greeted with an incredible sunset over Ullswater in the Lake District. Walking on the fells is my passion and this particular valley is completely unspoilt. I perched on a rocky outcrop and started sketching, and making colour notes as well as recording the moment in photographs. I wanted to capture the play of light which is so fleeting in an oil painting.
On returning to the studio I worked on the composition and started to produce the final artwork. It certainly lifts one's mood to see the beauty of light in nature.
