Artworks by Kate Vasileva

Kate Vasileva is a fine art photographer based in Dubai, UAE. Her practice moves between staged, conceptual images and quiet observation, with recurring attention to the body, skin, surfaces and the traces people leave behind. Working mostly in black and white, she builds minimalist scenes around a single object or gesture, turning everyday things and living creatures into visual metaphors.

Her work explores the gap between being free and feeling free: the invisible boundaries of migration, domestic labour, gender roles and the comfortable enclosures we learn to live inside. Combining a restrained aesthetic with a touch of absurd humour, she aims to create images that look calm at first glance but leave a lingering unease.

Her work has been shortlisted for the BBA One Shot Award (Berlin, 2026).
