skin #7 (2023) Photograph by Ekaterina Vasileva

45 x 30 x 1cm (unframed)

£118.12

Skin began with an accidental discovery - the papery husk of a garlic clove, noticed one summer at a friend's countryside house. That fragile covering led to a simple thought: everything has a skin, literally and metaphorically - a surface that protects, conceals, and eventually shows its age. Garlic became the starting point for a broader exploration, extending to other organic and everyday materials whose outer layers carry traces of time, fragility, and transformation. The series treats "skin" as both a physical membrane and a metaphor for identity, vulnerability, and the wear that comes with living.

From the Skin series - a soap bubble, the thinnest membrane imaginable, echoing the fragile shelter some people hide behind, doomed to vanish at the slightest touch.
