Sisters (2025)Linocut by Amanda Ribbans

35 x 27cm / 21 x 29cm (actual image size)

£120

On a glorious summer's day my friend and I set off to walk along the cliff towards Eastbourne. When I saw the view of the Seven Sisters with yellow ragwort framing the cliffs I knew I had to make a print of it. The view is so iconic and the mustard yellow flowers against the chalk cliffs and pastel blue sea were stunning. For me this image celebrates friendship and sisterhood in remembrance of a great day.

This is a reduction linoprint meaning it is a small edition. Reduction is a relief printing technique where a single block is progressively carved away and printed in multiple colours, usually from light to dark. Because more of the same block is cut away between each colour layer, the process is destructive, meaning the entire edition must be printed at once. Each print is slightly different because of its handmade nature, the weight of ink and pressure through the press can never be exactly the same.
