Original artwork description
This is an experimental series where I seek to deconstruct painting in the same way that a chef does in modern cuisine, transforming the ingredients of a traditional dish into other textures, shapes and temperatures without breaking the flavors and harmonies of the ingredients. I achieve this deconstruction of art by combining the two main concepts of my work, painting and image transfer through photography. What I do first is a classic realistic painting on canvas and photograph it. Then I transfer that photograph printed on paper with gesso to another canvas, which is the final canvas.
My recent work speaks of the diversity of masks we wear, of how to be oneself while being many different people at the same time, of what we think we are but which varies constantly, of what we show we are versus what we often carry inside. This is represented in this work in which all the elements have been modified in its form, because it is not really the painting or the transfer that is seen, but a concealment of what it really is, a classic oil painting that is not really painted on the canvas.
Before this process I add a touch of color with acrylic paint being really the only painting that is on the canvas
