Contemporary abstract figurative painting - In this piece, I was remembering some of the gothic historical fiction books that I've read and wanted to recreate that delicious sense of eerie mystery. The solitary figure is surrounded by layered architectural forms and atmospheric texture. Vibrant turquoise and warm orange emerge against earthy greens, olive tones, and muted neutrals, creating a striking contrast between presence and mystery. I built the surface intuitively with acrylic and mixed media, allowing marks, scratches, and translucent layers to reveal and conceal parts of the story. The figure feels both grounded and dreamlike, inviting viewers to create their own narrative within the scene. Rich in texture and mood, this artwork brings depth, intrigue, and visual warmth to any interior.
