Silent Prayer (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Belgin Parlak

Silent Prayer is an original mixed media artwork depicting the Virgin Mary in a quiet moment of prayer.

The piece is created using gouache paint and hand-applied plaster, giving parts of the composition a raised, textured surface. Real beads are incorporated into the rosary, extending from the surface of the artwork and adding a tactile, three dimensional quality.

Warm earthy tones, deep blues and golden accents create an intimate and contemplative atmosphere. The combination of traditional sacred imagery, textured plaster and physical materials gives the work a distinctive character that changes subtly with light and viewing angle.
