There's a moment, just after sunrise, when the sea stops looking like water and starts looking like silk.
This piece is about chasing that moment — when the surface holds light instead of just reflecting it, and everything solid seems to dissolve into motion.

The composition cuts diagonally across the frame: a single wave tracing a soft curve from the lower left corner up toward the right, its edge marked by a delicate line of foam.
Everything else is pure surface — long, silky striations of water stretching in every direction, catching the first warm light of the day. The palette is soft and warm: dusty lavender and rose in the upper corner giving way to pale gold and gentle grey-blue across the rest of the frame, with the wave's crest as the only sharper, cooler note.

I shot Shapes of Water #18 the same way I approach this whole series — staying close to the water's motion and letting a slow shutter turn ripples into brushstrokes. directional, almost woven.
