In my work, I am known for painting people in museums looking at famous artworks, but this particular piece is deeply personal—it is a self-portrait of me completely immersed in Edvard Munch’s iconic Self-Portrait Between the Bed and the Clock.
Munch painted his masterpiece at the end of his life, standing between a clock without hands and a bed, facing his own mortality with a profound, stark vulnerability. By inserting myself into this scene, I wanted to create a dialogue across time, exploring my own relationship with aging, the relentless passage of time, and the quiet spaces we occupy as creators.
Self Portrait Between Bed And Clock (2022) is meticulously created with acrylic on a 50 40cm panel. It comes signed on the front and reverse and it is accompanied by my official studio label alongside a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
