Sea of Sunsets. Campofelice di Roccella (2026) Original Oil Painting by Oksana Siciliana

This painting was inspired by evenings in Campofelice di Roccella, a place that, in my eyes, holds some of the most beautiful sunsets in Sicily.

During my first year on the island, I often returned there after work to swim in the sea and watch the last light dissolve into the water. I remember the reflections of the sunset shimmering through ice cubes in a glass of Aperol Spritz on the table nearby — fleeting fragments of color and light that no photograph ever seemed able to preserve.

Rather than documenting a specific moment, this work explores the emotional memory of place: the warm evening air, the rhythm of the waves, and the changing Sicilian light mirrored across the wet sand before nightfall.

Part of the series My Map of Sicilian Seas, the painting transforms personal geography into contemporary seascapes suspended between memory, atmosphere, and Mediterranean light.
