Checkmate to Aesthetics by the Naked Queen (2025) Original Collage by Olga Li
23 x 28 x 1cm / 233 x 28cm (actual image size)
£544.46
Original artwork description
In this work I wanted to represent an attack on the cult of consumerism and the emptiness that so often accompanies the images of our time. A queen seated on a throne in a kingdom of fabrics, poses, and silences — surrounded by appearances and diminished values.
Original analogue collage. Available also as limited edition fine art prints in larger sizes upon request.
What truly pushed me to start this series was the digital memes themselves. They inspired me to explore the idea of “analogue memes” — the realisation that the meme did not begin with the internet, but has always been deeply rooted in our human culture. I believe that analogue collage, as an art form, reconnects us with the primal energy of something ancient and essential — its symbols, its gestures, and those raw, physical ways we have used for centuries to transmit ideas and images. It is a living, tactile, imperfect language that carries the artist’s breath, their fingerprints, the direct touch of the hand, and the beautiful fragility of the gesture. This is precisely what makes it feel so profoundly human. Today, perhaps more than ever, it deserves to be rediscovered and celebrated as a powerful, authentic, creative, and intensely contemporary form of art.
The certificate of authenticity will be printed in full color, then hand-signed and dated by the artist.
This work is part of my ongoing series of analogue collages.
