San Francisco Sunset (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Marco Barberio

The last light of the day transforms San Francisco into a landscape of glowing color and architectural contrasts. In San Francisco Sun, the city's iconic Victorian houses stand proudly in the foreground while the skyline, crowned by the unmistakable Transamerica Pyramid, emerges from a radiant orange sky.
This painting is inspired by the unique atmosphere of California's golden hour, when sunlight softens the city and turns buildings into silhouettes of light and shadow. Through layered brushwork and a reduced color palette, I sought to capture not only the appearance of the city but also the feeling of standing before it as the sun slowly disappears beyond the bay.
Part of my ongoing exploration of urban landscapes, this work celebrates the relationship between historic architecture, modern development, and the fleeting beauty of sunset.
