Sailing on the River Thames in cloudy London (2022) Photograph by Samira Malik

50.8 x 50.8 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 46.79 x 43.98cm (actual image size)

£325

Captured on a cloudy afternoon along the River Thames, this photograph celebrates the quiet elegance of sailing against London's ever-changing sky. As the wind carried the boats across the water, layers of grey cloud softened the light, allowing the subtle tones of blue, silver and white to emerge across the river's surface.

Rather than focusing on the city's familiar landmarks, this image draws attention to the timeless relationship between wind, water and sail. The restrained colour palette and gentle movement evoke a sense of calm, inviting the viewer to pause and experience a quieter side of London.

My work is inspired by a love of the sea, atmospheric light and a combination of those that evoke a feeling of freedom.

Themes: London, City, Travel, Cityscape, Light, Escape, Calm
Colours: Blue, Grey, Black and White

Materials Used
Museum-quality fine art giclée print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper using archival pigment inks.

Method of Creation
Each artwork begins with one of my original photographs and is professionally produced as a fine art giclée print by specialist fine art printers in the United Kingdom.
Giclée printing is widely regarded as the gold standard in fine art reproduction, using archival pigment inks to achieve exceptional colour accuracy, tonal range and detail. This process allows the subtle light, atmosphere and texture within the original photograph to be faithfully reproduced.

The print is produced on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper, one of the world's most respected fine art papers. Manufactured by Hahnemühle, a German papermaker founded in 1584, this archival-quality paper features a distinctive textured surface that enhances depth, richness and detail while giving the print an elegant, tactile quality.

Combined with archival pigment inks, the result is a museum-quality fine art print with exceptional longevity and fade resistance for up to 100 years under normal display conditions.
