Original artwork description:

This oil painting depicts old houses on the bank of the Salaison river. This small 25km stream flows into the "Etang de l'Or", a coastal pond linked to the Mediterranean sea near the town of Mauguio (south of France). These picturesque houses were originally inhabited by fishermen.
I first made a few sketches and a watercolour in-situ which I used as studies to realise this work.. The oil was painted in successive glazes (thin layers of semi transparent paint added on top of each other), a technique which brings depth and luminosity. Its composition is 'synthetic' in order to keep only the essentials and highlight the contrasts between shade and light as well as the reflections in the water. It is framed and ready to hang.
