This original acrylic painting is inspired by the vivid red strawberries associated with the Marchfeld region in Austria.
Large ripe strawberries emerge from a dense field of bright green leaves, transformed through bold colour, simplified forms and richly textured paint.
The strong contrast between red, green, yellow and black gives the composition an energetic and almost sculptural presence.
The artwork is part of my Chromatic Austria series, in which I explore Austrian landscapes, nature, wildlife and regional motifs through expressive colour and personal interpretation rather than strict realism.
The painting was created with acrylic paint on stretched canvas using brushes and palette knives.
Thick impasto, visible marks and layered paint give the surface a tactile quality and make the fruit and foliage appear almost three-dimensional.
