Original artwork description
Reckoning came out of two things burning at once: the moorland fires that swept the Yorkshire Dales this autumn, and the white heat of a summer sky that felt like it was exploding in colour. Above me, gold and red tear across the canvas like something still alight. Below, everything has already gone dark, cooled into blue and shadow. I sit right on that edge, between what is still burning and what has already been decided.
